Drum roll please! We are trilled to announce the 2024 GMFF Film Slam!
>> Registration open now until February 28th!
((Registration form here))
The Challenge:
The challenge will consist of producing a 3 min - 4 min Narrative Short Film (including the credits) that must be the contestant’s original work and completed within the designated 3 day period with no more than 12 hours of production per day (filming time). The rest of the time can be devoted to editing and all other facets of post-production. The short film will be pre-produced in, filmed and edited during the 3 day timeline of the competition: March 1st - March 3rd
All final videos will be submitted as a common video file (.mp4, .mov, H.264) and uploaded to our competition folder (Google Shared Drive).
The Prompt:
The prompt will be designed in such a way that will push the filmmakers to emulate the best filmmakers in the world. In the prompt there will be a specific genre or style assigned (e.g., drama, comedy, thriller, romance, film noir, spaghetti western, etc.) The prompt will be given to the filmmakers on February 28th before the competition starts and each team will have 3 days to produce their films and upload them to our competition folder (Google Shared Drive).
The shorts will be viewed by our GMFF Screening Committee and they will determine which films will go on to be part of the GMFF Short Films showcase!
The films will be evaluated in 6 areas of competency: Genre, Story, Directing, Editing, Cinematography and Acting. Each of the different areas of competency will encompass all the standards of competencies based on industry standards.
ORCA Media can supply resources for the 3 day shoot, this includes cameras, tripods, mics, computers + editing software and a space to edit. Availability of gear and resources are limited and based on a “first come basis.”
